Janie
I was born and raised on the southernmost tip of Nova Scotia, Canada. As a very young girl, I would ask my Mom to drive miles off the beaten path to visit a small but beautiful horse property so that I could call the horses to me and pet them for as long as Mom would allow.
As an adult, two years after losing my Mom, my husband Mike suggested that I might enjoy taking a horseback riding lesson. I took him up on his suggestion, and the rest is history. After a few weeks of lessons, I purchased my first horse, Quaker de Kreisker.
Mike and I realized that our love for horses couldn’t stop with Mr. Q. Several months later, we headed to Fontainebleau, France and ended up with several more amazing horses. Upon our return to Florida, we searched for a boarding facility that met not only the needs of our horses, but also those of other riders and their horses. We quickly found that Naples did not have a facility that fully met our expectations, so we decided to create one ourselves!
We spent the next six months interviewing riders, as well as visiting farms throughout Florida and stables in Europe. We researched every type of feed and hay, paddock fence, barn manufacturer, arena footing material, and even barn flooring, to select the very best on the market for our stables. We then went about finding the ideal acreage in Naples and designing every building to create our dream facility, Shore Acres Farm!
Horses need us to do our best by them, and that’s our goal here at Shore Acres Farm. Come see the difference we can make in your horse’s life, just as they continue to make a difference in ours.
