Our Story
Janie and Mike Yag, the founders of Shore Acres Farm, dreamed of creating a place where both horses and their riders could have the best riding experiences available.
The journey began shortly after Janie’s mom and Mike’s dad both passed away within months of each other. Janie suffered a great deal with her loss. Eventually, Mike suggested that she might benefit from finally chasing a dream that she had not pursued since early childhood: going horseback riding. Within weeks, Janie was taking riding lessons. She fell in love with horseback riding and she quickly purchased her first horse (and second true love), Quaker de Kreisker. As the saying goes, “the rest is history,” and with the help of Mike and Quaker de Kreisker, Shore Acres Farm was born.
The process began by researching existing horse farms. After visiting facilities on the east and west coasts of the United States, and even some in Europe, Janie and Mike found that none of them captured the atmosphere they were looking for: a supportive family environment where riders of all levels can benefit from a best-in-class equestrian farm.
From this research, their mission was immediately clear: they were going to design a farm that was all about the horses! They set to work developing a facility that caters to Jumpers and Hunters. The result… Shore Acres Farm. This state-of-the-art facility includes a whole suite of equestrian services and amenities, including:
